Voting to extend the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% income earners, really Mr. Freylinghuysen? Hmmmm. I know there are a lot of people who may not have the inclination to follow what is happening in Congress on a daily basis, but one thing was certain, is certain and will continue to be so - you are affected. But I would venture to say, this is true more than ever these days when not a single Republican will vote for things that will in FACT help the economy. We know there is rhetoric to suggest that Republican congressmen and candidates have a better way, but no one who is actually reading the news can find where and what that way is. When a person says, I don't know, I don't follow and I don't vote - they are still voting and Republicans are counting on voters to not follow the facts, but to follow fear and complacency, as they have proposed and done nothing that actually helps the economy. I am saddened that our sheer numbers, as the 99% is not enough to set everything straight. I have no inclination to ask Mr. Freylinghuysen to do the right thing; it is only up to voters to change the system.

Tips for
getting your letter to the editor published:
1. Tell Your Story: Your story and
your own words are the most compelling.
2. Emphasize the Positive: Even
if you are writing in response to a negative article,
focus instead on on solutions
rather than focusing on the negative points in the article.
3. Use Details: Mention
a recent article in the newspaper.
4. Keep It Short: The
more to the point and focused you can make your letter
the more effective it will be. Try to keep your letter
to 100 to 250 words. This will prevent an editor from
cutting out what you really want to say.
5. Include Your Contact Information: Be
sure to include your name, address and phone number with
your letter. Most newspapers contact letter writers to
verify their identity before they are published. |
