As Governor and as State Senator, Richard Codey set out to make people healthier by transforming medical care in New Jersey.Thanks to his leadership, Stem Cell Research became a priority, mental health services were dramatically improved, smoking was banned in public places, and families without insurance gained access to quality health care for the first time.
Richard Codey created college scholarships for students in the top 20 percent of their class, increased the minimum wage, and upgraded New Jersey’s credit rating.
Building on her expertise in education policy issues, Mila Jasey increased the numbers of math and science teachers and supported innovative approaches to improve public education. She is a vocal advocate for full school funding to stop teacher layoffs and a school aid formula that is fair to suburban and urban communities.
Mila Jasey mobilized to keep Women’s Health Centers open and preserve New Jersey Family Care. She is pushing to reduce the local tax burden through shared services between municipalities and school districts.
The legislature’s leading environmental advocate, Assemblyman John McKeon saved thousands of acres of open space from over-development, protected the purity of our drinking water, and spearheaded the Greenhouse Gas Initiative to combat global warming.
To ensure that seniors, working families and schools are not devastated by the state’s budget crisis, John McKeon is fighting to restore the Millionaire’s Tax, a 1.7% surcharge on every dollar earned over a million dollars.
