RHONDA ALLEN for Township Committee
Rhonda moved to Harding Township in 1990 with her husband, Peter Allen, who was raised in Harding after his family moved here in 1967. Rhonda was born and raised in New York City where she attended public school. She received her BA in psychology from Brandeis University, which is where she met Peter. After receiving her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Saint John’s University, she and Peter moved to the Allen family home in Harding. There they raised their two sons Robert and Matthew, who both attended the Harding Township School.
Rhonda is a licensed clinical psychologist and has her own private practice in Harding. She has held various board positions in numerous professional associations over the years. She is currently serving on the Ethics Committee of the New Jersey Psychological Association.
Rhonda has also been an active political volunteer for many Democratic candidates, dating back to her time in college as a member of the Brandeis Democrats. Over the years, she was never happy to see the “no nomination made” statement under the Democrats heading for Township Committee slots. After this last election, Rhonda decided that she needed to dedicate herself to more political involvement. After meeting Mark Magyar, the Harding Township Democratic Chair, at a Morris County Democrats fundraiser, she and Mark agreed that now might be a good time to take action on a local level to make sure that all Harding residents are represented in their local government.
KATE BARRY for Township Committee
Kate was born in Morristown and raised in New Vernon. She attended Harding Township School and Gill St. Bernard’s High School.
Kate’s love of politics began at an early age, as her father, former New Jersey Assemblyman, James J. Barry Jr., involved her in campaigns and took her to political events throughout her childhood. As an undergraduate at the College of Charleston, she immersed herself in ancient and modern politics while studying Classics and Political Science. She was also an active participant in South Carolina Student Legislature.
Eager to explore different cultures and countries, Kate moved to England to attend graduate school at University College London, where she pursued a degree in Environment and Sustainable Development. Kate has lived in several states and countries but has never forgotten where she is from. She is passionate about New Jersey, as anyone who knows her can confirm. After working in the environmental policy field in New York and New Jersey, she earned her real estate license so she could work in her hometown with her father.
Kate currently lives in Harding with her family, which includes a cat, donkey, and two goats. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to be a candidate for the Harding Township Committee and is very excited to work to secure Democratic representation on a historically entirely Republican team.
